Ann Curry

Ann Curry is an American photographer and journalist. She has worked as a journalist for over 45 years focused on human suffering in the aftermath of natural catastrophes and war zones. Curry covered the conflicts within Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo, and Central African Republic. Ann Curry (born on November 19th, 1956 in the city of Agana) is an American television reporter, anchor and journalist. She was most famous for her work as a reporter on the Today Show, a daily morning news show broadcast by National Broadcasting Co. Curry is known for reporting humanitarian crises and natural disasters and natural disasters, particularly in countries which have suffered the effects of war. Curry's Japanese-American mother as well as her U.S. Navy-sailor dad played prominent roles in her life. Her mother was stationed alongside her father in Japan following World War II. As a result of her father's active military service, the family relocated frequently. Curry completed high school at Ashland Oregon. Her graduation with a journalist diploma at The University of Oregon in 1978. The diversity of her experiences as well as her experiences throughout her childhood likely influenced her empathetic method of communication regarding issues of international significance. She became the first woman anchor at the station, when she was just 22. She subsequently moved to the role of anchor and reporter for KGW which was an NBC affiliate located in Portland, Oregan. When she moved to Los Angeles, she became an anchor and reporter for KCBS TV just four years after having moved into the city. It was during her time with this channel for the duration of six years that she won two Emmy Awards.
